week at various times from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

with all of life, the schedule is subject to change. Please
sign up for our enewsletter on the home page so we can alert you
to any unforeseen last minute changes.
Inclement Weather Policy:
We make valiant attempts to not cancel classes, however:
If Pittsburgh Public Schools calls a delay or the

poses or check in with your alignment. Also appropriate for seniors
and pregnant women. Teens welcome.

to alignment. standing postures and basic body mechanics. Leave
focused and feeling fabulous!
Yoga
Level I Flow (aka Dynamic Flow Basics)
Beginner to intermediate class synchronizing yoga postures and
movements with the breath, creating a flowing and graceful yoga
practice. Through the flow of poses one builds internal heat,
a cleansing sweat and purified muscles resulting in a strong,
light body and calm, refocused mind. Class also includes sun salutations
and principles of safe, proper alignment in poses.

Yoga
Level I/II Flow
A beginner to intermediate class connecting breath to movement
in a flowing (vinyasa) style yoga practice. Sun Salutations are
often included to begin building heat in the body, preparing the
student for standing, balancing and deeper, longer held floor
postures. Backbends, twists, inversions and arm balances are also
practiced, but options are always given so that every student
works to their ability. Music is incorporated to enhance the flowing
nature of the class. Clear instruction and cueing are given to
ensure proper alignment and safe practice.
Pilates
Mat
Increases strength, flexibility and endurance, while using your
own body weight as resistance! Pilates is a non-impact fitness
regime that focuses on core strengthening to create a longer,
stronger body.

Tips for Taking a Yoga Class and
Getting Started
Nervous
about coming to your first class? It does take courage to start
something new. We suggest coming to Yoga Basics, 6-7pm, Tuesdays
and Thursdays or come with a friend. Or perhaps consider a private
class so you can familiarize yourself with the basics in a one-on-one
session. If you are not sure where to start, please call Joanne,
the Director at (412)287-4591 so she can help you find the right
fit for you. You success is very important to us. The beauty of
yoga is that it meets you where you are. It’s never too late to
start.
Even
if you have been to yoga classes before, it would help us out
and make you more comfortable if you read and follow these guidelines
or “best practices” before class.
1)
Arrive on time – late arrivals can be distracting to other class
participants. If the class has begun, stand near the window so
the instructor can see you and give you a signal as to when to
come in.
2)
Turn off all cell phones & pagers.
3)
Remove shoes before entering the studio. In the winter months,
please leave your boots in the hall (beyond the studio entrance).
4)
Refrain from wearing perfume or other scented products to class
– they may be bothersome to your classmates.
5)
Refrain from attending class when you have a “cold” or other contagious
condition. The close quarters, sharing of props, & deep breathing
of class may make others susceptible to the germs. Additionally,
a persistent cough may be distracting to others.
6)
In the event that you need to leave class early, do so before
final relaxation, in order to prevent distraction of the other
class participants.
7)
In classes that are particularly full, make every effort to share
the space around you. Place purses & other personal belongings
in the far corners of the room.
8)
When waiting for class to begin, refrain from loud conversation.
Many class participants enjoy silence during these moments.
9)
It is best to refrain from eating 1 hour or so before class. This
will help to eliminate any type of abdominal discomfort or embarrassment
that you may experience during class.
10)
Do not chew gum during class. This can create a choking hazard
for you, as well as a distraction for your classmates.
11)
While we have mats available for your free use, we do suggest
that you purchase your own (and clearly mark your name on it)
since this is a personal use item.
